Addressing Faculty Problem StatementAI-Powered Campus Transit & Micro-Mobility Optimization Engine

Category: AI/ML • Faculty Mentor: Dr. Radhika Sen

Detailed Specifications

### Problem Statement Collegiate campuses cover extensive terrain with thousands of students moving between lectures within tight 10-15 minute windows. Existing maps lack real-time bus telemetry, elevation profiles for wheelchair access, and micro-mobility battery station availability. ### Proposed Solution EcoRoute unifies campus shuttle GPS feeds with live IoT bike racks and crowd-sourced crowd density data. The platform calculates optimal multimodal paths, predicts bus arrival bottlenecks, and calculates carbon savings per student commute. ### Technology Stack & Architecture - Frontend: Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Leaflet/Mapbox GL - Backend: Supabase PostgreSQL, PostGIS for geospatial queries, Edge Functions - Telemetry: MQTT broker ingesting university shuttle GPS feeds - Microservices: Route calculation using contraction hierarchies ### What We Are Building Next We are completing the mobile-first Progressive Web App (PWA) client and need collaborators to implement Bluetooth beacon check-ins and clean map overlays.
